Grand Forks to Nelson

Grand Forks to Christina Lake was a relative easy 19km run. In Christina Lake we stop to see Tom at Smoochies for a coffee and pastries. Next the Paulson Pass, another significant mountain pass that was made more challenging by the almost non-existent shoulder. At the top of the pass we were faced with strong,... Continue Reading →

Osoyoos to Grand Forks

This was our longest ride to date and our most challenging. The climb out of Osoyoos is significant. Switchbacks seem to go on forever. This was our second major mountain pass.

Summerland to Osoyoos

This was a relatively flat ride. The trip from Summerland to Penticton included a stop for a wine tasting, purchasing fruit at a roadside stand and a beer on arrival in Penticton. For part of the ride we managed to ride on the Kettle Valley Rail Trail south spur. Osoyoos has a beautiful beach adjacent... Continue Reading →

Princeton to Summerland

Today was to be the first of a number of days cycling off road on the Kettle Valley Rail Trail. Starting in Princeton the goal was to cycle to Summerland approximately 100 kms away. Booked to cross at 8 am we learned that the 6 and 9 am ferries had been canceled and people were also lining up from cancelations in Nanaimo. We lucked out not only making the ferry, although a tad late,... Continue Reading →

How did the Cross Canada cycling fund-raiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters get named The Rotary Ride For Kids. Well as a proud Rotarian, a Past President of the Rotary Club of Sarnia and the current Assistant District Governor I have a long connection with Rotary that stretches back just over 20 years. The suggestion... Continue Reading →

MILE 0 – Victoria

Today the cross Canada cycling trip really started at Mile 0 in Victoria. The cycling trip today was short, just 36 km from Mile 0 to Swartz Bay where the ferry departs for the mainland. In that short ride I had my first flat tire, hopefully not an indication of the rest of the ride.... Continue Reading →
