Out of Blind River the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail, The Trans Canada Trail and the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 17) are one. Initially there is a gravel side trail that runs along the Trans-Canada but that disappears not far down the road.
Riding on the Trans-Canada in the sections where there is a wide paved shoulder is tolerable but the wide paved shoulder continues to disappear for at time long stretches and then you are either hugging the edge of the pavement with transport trucks flying by or struggling along through gravel. Neither choice is a good one. The ride becomes one of survival rather than pleasure.
On a positive note the weather has certainly improved.

A lonely road
